Selection
School sport policy states that in order to be selected in a Wide Bay regional team, students must be in attendance at the regional trials.
Exemptions Policy for Absent Competitors
Students may be considered for selection if they are absent from Wide Bay Regional Trials due to the following:
- Have a medical condition on the day(s) of the trial.
- Are absent due to an authorised school activity.
- Are competing in a QRSS event or another sport event of the same or higher level.
- Are absent due to religious or cultural responsibilities.
- Are absent due to bereavement or compassionate reasons.

The application must be signed of by the school principal or authorised school delegate, district secretary and submitted to WBSS no later than 24 hrs before the WBSS Regional Trials.
Regional trials are conducted in all sports except swimming, where nominations are collected.
District trial attendance
Prior to attending regional trials, the student must attend a district trial in their age group (10–12 or 13–19) to be selected. This is the procedure for all sports except swimming which is a district based nomination.
